For All Our Kids - Harrisonville School Bond Issue

On April 3rd, the citizens of Harrisonville will vote on a School Bond Issue.  What projects are included in the bond?

•Special education classrooms at all buildings

•A gymnasium at Harrisonville Elementary School

•A cafeteria at McEowen Elementary School

•Additional classrooms to enable all third grade students to attend school at Harrisonville Elementary

•A gifted classroom at Harrisonville Middle School

•Expansion of band and choir rooms at HHS

•Renovation and expansion of Family & Consumer Science room at HHS

•Classrooms at HHS to move business classes from Cass Career Center.

How can the district ask for a bond without raising my taxes?
The For All Our Kids bond issue is a no tax increase measure. A homeowner will see no additional costs with the passage of the bond. The district's bonding capacity is $15 million. That means the district can ask voters to approve a bond up to $15 million without a tax increase because the current debt service levy can take on this amount and retire it without additional funds. The district is only asking for $12 million in order to have some bonding capacity available if needed.
